Winners and Losers

It's finally December, and in about 2 weeks, all the people at school will be on break and in good spirits. It's funny to me how a simple holiday can make everyone nicer, too bad its not year-round Christmas(or Whatever holiday you celebrate). As Tha Express runs by, I will bring to you a few winners and losers that I feel necessary to publicize. A little sports, a little life, a little for everyone.

..And for those who like to look forward to festivities, I'm already planning A TK Christmas Special

Onward.

Losers:

New Jersey Nets - As metaphorical as I tend to be, this one is just a straight shot. The NBA's New Jersey Nets have started the 2009-10 season with a dismal 0-18 record. That record is a NBA record, but of course not a record to be proud of. During this losing streak, they have fired the one of the longest tenured coaches in the NBA, Lawrence Frank. And in hopes of finding the answer to winning, they appointed GM and ex-boyfriend of my mother, Kiki Vandeweghe. Sure the Nets have been hit by the injury bug. But still, in a league that loves offense and sporadically loves defense its hard to believe they have yet to win a game.

Tiger Woods: I'm hesitant to put this in here because it is his personal business. But after a sketchy car accident in his neighborhood, Tiger has admitted to being a bad husband and father. Whatever that means.

In all honesty, he admitted it so I'll give him that. While disloyalty to one's spouse is not looked highly upon, I'm going to flip the card and actually make my second loser a winner. Yes, Tiger has admitted his flaws and regardless of what happens in his life ( which shouldn't matter to you) He is on his way up, perhaps his life outside the sport of golf can now reach the level of his life on the green.

Bigger Loser: Everyone and anyone who is following this Tiger Woods story. So I guess this includes me for putting it in my post. But Hypocrisy aside, get a life and stop trying to pry into other people's lives. I listen to sports radio 98.9 in San Diego( usually great radio), and all day today I felt like I was listening to marriage counseling. On why relationships go bad, and why its such a immoral thing. That's the biggest load of crap to me. Let me tell you why:
Kobe Bryant- Highest selling Jersey last year. When athletes and stars falter, they are given a pass, an opportunity to rise to the level of success they had with little to no repercussions. No one cares now that Kobe cheated on his wife a while back. For all I know Kobe has changed it around and learned from his mistake.Good for him. But my point is fans don't care, they just want entertainment.
Chris Brown -
Some how I don't think he's learned
Less that a year ago, the wannabe prince of pop was cited for domestic violence. You know the whole thing. Well within a few months, he's back to the music, dancing and singing and getting women to flock over him like he never hit a girl. I know if I hit a girl I would have been treated worse... that's funny to me. Maybe I'll try it. Maybe me saying that has gotten me in more trouble than CB. You can only hope he has learned tho... Just like Tiger, you can only hope he is serious with his statements, because once he takes the green there will be no more talk about this incident with his wife. The conversations will solely be about breaking Jack Nicklaus' record. I don't know if that's right.

Winners:

Ron Artest - It would be cowardly of me not to bring up my boy, Ron-Ron, in a time of controversy. Recently Artest admitted to drinking Hennessy at half time of games when he was a member of the Chicago Bulls.
The Bull

Let me tell you guys, Ron Artest is 30 now. Still misunderstood? undoubtedly. Still crazy? Only to those who feel they are normal. Ever normal? Only to those who feel they are crazy. But even at 30 years old, there are still some who think Ron is the walking Omen of 2012. But to me he is a winner, because if you take his comments to heart you can tell he is reminiscing and recalculating his life. Sure, drinking during games is ridiculous, but he admits that it was. He also admits he was young, a hot head, and couldn't break out of his "ghetto" funk from college at St John's.
Ron is a winner to me, because he has proved he can change his attitude, without changing his unorthodox state of being. True to oneself - Ron Artest. People learn just as you do, I bet it would piss you off if everyone challenged your ability to handle your life.

Those Who Don't Freak About Finals - There should be a category under losers about those who complain about how they are going to fail their finals and be studying all night, but to place that category would be redundant and give those losers too much face time.
Think about it, are finals really harder than any other test? Do you really get any dumber when it comes time to take this daunting exam? I don't think so. Confidence is key in school. It takes me back to my days at UCSD. When finals came around I was pumped, ready to do damage, and kick the institution that was said to give me higher learning in the balls.
for school of course
Sure I study, but I don't freak, I don't complain. Cuz I don't fear the test, the Test fears me. (along with all the other students fearing me setting the curve). My friend Sarah knows. At UCSD I wore head bands in finals week. When I turned in my test I briefly stood in front of the lecture hall and pounded my chest in victory or pumped my fist in accomplishment . At San Marcos, I've gone to war: Wearing mohawks and jerseys to let all know that somethings gonna die that day. And that thing is the test. No matter how you tackle your tests, I applaud those who are confident in there knowledge. Keep it up.

Anyway hopefully A TK Christmas goes according to plan.

A shout out to my boy Rob, who I recently briefly reconnected with. A good friend, a one of a kind dude. Unfortunately he is one the east coast.

Until next time
