Welcome back everybody. Through all the work I've been cast away with I've managed to write once more despite the horrible circumstances. Life's been hectic, overwhelmed and unmotivated to push through my school work... Not to mention the Olympics being on really late and keeping me up watching the festivities.
It's been good though, and I've gotten numerous texts and comments saying I look like a certain Olympian.
Can you guess who?

Can you guess who?
I enjoy the comparison to say the least.
But instead of writing about the snow and games I decided to write about one of, if not the greatest influences of my life. The one, the only Will Smith. You can laugh now, but hopefully after you read this you will understand why. Cuz sure he has talents, he's jacked, the girls like him, he's got lots of money but that's not why...Most of my friends know he is my favorite celebrity but not everyone knows the reason why.
The way I see it, since I don't follow a religion, I have to follow a role model. Someone who I can structure my life after, not necessarily directly, but in theory. It started early, but not as early as you'd think.
Fresh Prince of Bel air was a great show: funny, with the occasional lesson to be learned but I think most of the hype of that show was because there was a cool guy being really funny.
If my whole life was patterned off of Will in this show, I'd probably just be a funny guy chasing after girls. But although this was a comedy, I learned to always be myself and never give up the fun I can have. You have to grow up, but you never really have to "Grow Up" as the world says.
I wasn't hooked just yet on who my role model would be. I have a lot of people I know whose stories I learn from and respect. In fact a lot of the athletes I like are not only skilled, but they also have stories about overcoming struggles that allowed them to achieve greatness. If you wonder about a sports player I roll with, ask me and I’ll tell you why.
Puzzle Pieced together I was slowly developing the person I wanted to be...
Eventually I knew who was gonna guide me it was around the time I saw the movie Hitch.

When I walked out of the theater I wouldn't call it an epiphany, but I knew I could get any girl I wanted or at least felt that way… trust me I have some stories here… And if it didn't work out, it didn't really matter cuz I knew as long as I kept myself in check, she would be the one missing out... not me.
I started looking up background on Will and learned he plays a large role in the messages conveyed in his films under Overbrook Entertainment. He even produces most of his films. After watching a lot of interviews and getting his personal perspectives on the world, it all kinda took off from there.
It's funny to some but if you take a look at his movies under Overbrook you can learn a lot from the messages. I started with Hitch, I could go into more depth but look at the others:
I. Robot - You gotta stick to your senses even if the world doesn't believe you.

I. Robot - You gotta stick to your senses even if the world doesn't believe you.
Pursuit of Happyness - Don't stop dreaming, and work hard for what you want. Happiness isn't what you think it is.
I Am Legend - Sometimes you have to let nature take it course. And personally: You have to be strong to be alone.
Hancock - The world can be ungrateful and harsh against those who are misunderstood. Always look at the other person's side of the story, you don't know what they have been through. And to top it all off this tied into my whole superhero phenomena.
7 Pounds - Help others, help those who deserve to be helped. Hold yourself accountable at all times so you don’t have to be so hard on yourself.
I chose to explain a lot of the lessons I live by through the movies for entertainment purposes. But if you look at Will as a person he stays true to what he produces. He’s a guy who may not have started out with the mindset and morals he has today, but he has built himself up to be the icon he is to me. He doesn't necessarily follow the rules, sure he has the money to bypass a lot of them, but it's the mentality of finding the right way to live life that allowed him to get there. And most of all, he is trying to impose his values on the world from the position of stardom he has achieved.
So yeah, that's my role model. All the characters he plays, his charm, and talent all have caused me to be like him, but most of all who he is as a person and what he believes in allowed me to know who I wanna be like... I’ve always wanted to be great, and I knew it was possible for anyone but just like any task, it can be hard to accomplish it alone. It really helped me and helps me today to have someone or some concept to keep me going. I realize you can take almost any string of movies and pinpoint the morals, so If you are interested and got a couple minutes.. You should watch this video to further my explanation..
So just like Will, I wanna hold myself to a certain standard that will make me stand out. I wanna help people, if they chose to accept it and sometimes my stubborn nature will intervene if they don't want to accept it. I've learned to take from others stories and obtain characteristics that are hard to come by. My most prized ability is my determination, even at the cost of looking foolish I won't stop. I’ll try and I'll try
And I will become what I know I am
“Maybe you've lost all hope
And can't see past tomorrow”
