How Not To Play Basketball: Rajon Rondo

If you ask, you will receive. This is why this post has occurred. In this Express I will make it known to the world who is one of the biggest punks in Basketball. There are 3 things you can do to make me not respect you as a player in basketball, They are Whining, not playing defense, and playing dirty. Today we bring one man in the cross hairs. His name Rajon Rondo

Look at those Shoulders

You see, when I was asked to write about why many hate Rajon, I had no problem because I too can't stand the massive shouldered lizard/weasel.There are a lot of funny reasons to hate him... his looks, his shoulders, the fact he has a giant "RR" tatooed on his back. But for hate and disapproval to be real, there must be justification. So ill tell you exactly why.


1. Rondos Success is a Result of his Team - Especially after last years playoff's Rajon has gotten praise as one of the next great budding point guards. I tell you now he has skills, but he isn't a star. In college at Kentucky he was decent, but he was drafted 27th overall for a reason. Let's not forget he is surrounded by 3 perennial all-stars in Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. Rondo's job is to get these guys the ball so they can unleash their talent. The result? Major assists for Rondo. Imagine if Rondo was a high draft pick and had to lead a team of scrubs... Sadly however, the winning was gone to his head leading to my next point.

2. Cockiness- It's almost as if he's the little guy who is friends with the buff guys, so he can yap all day and not worried about getting socked in the face. As his short career has gone on Rondo has come to believe he was a chosen one, when in fact the only reason he got to start as point guard was because the Celtics had literally traded everyone away to get Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. There was really no other person who could play point guard. JR Giddens? Eddie House? if you are saying who? my point is proven. This arrogant flair is what annoys us Rondo haters, because we know he is not the reason the Celtics win. As noted to me by my Cousin Helfrick, 25%-40% of his points come on cherry picking layups. Even his play is weasel like.

3. Rondo is a Dirty Player - Hands down this is the main reason. People hate people who earn success by playing dirty. Rondo is a punk, he is a metaphorical weasel. Last year in the playoffs he nearly gouged Brad Millers eye out on a hard foul.

Once the replay was shown you could see that he never once looked to swat at the ball. In that same series, he got in a fight with the Bull's Kirk Hinrich.

Starting Fights

In the next series, a tussle with Orlando's Skip to my Lou, Rafer Alston. So we have 3 accounted incidents with one constant. Rajon Rondo. This tells me he is the one starting it. It's logical and its documented on some cases. Need more proof that Rondo is the dirty baller? Well how about this year.
4 games into the season.
The Celtics faced The New Orleans Hornets. Two technical fouls were issued between Rondo and True Point Guard extrodinaire: Chris Paul. After the game Paul, went to Rondo to talk to him, He was held back by assistant coaches and Rondo ran off into the locker room. It was revealed that Rondo went up to Paul during the game and said " I have a [Championship] Ring and you'll never get one". Referring to Paul's Hornet's struggles.
Stars don't talk trash like that, there is trash talking in good competition and then there is low blow trash talking. The fact is Rondo isn't even a star, he didn't earn that ring. Paul pierce did. Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen did. Hell, even Leon Powe earned it more than Rondo.

I hope he got swatted

At the end of the day though, these are the reasons why we cant stand little Rajon. The truth is if Rondo's team didn't win games we basketball fans would care less that he is a punk. But his team succeeds and he reaps the benefits. He'll continue to talk crap behind the protection of his teams success. But I'll assure you this, he will never be accepted into the star category unless he changes the way he plays the game. The youngin has a lot to learn in this League.
